Things to know when traveling Nha Trang

Best time to visit Nha Trang

Nha Trang has a tropical monsoon climate, but is also affected by oceanic climate. Therefore, Nha Trang climate is relatively comfortable, not too harsh as in the North and not too erratic as in the South. Winter in Nha Trang is not too cold. Summer is long but hot not too hot. Weather in Nha Trang also has two distinct seasons: rainy and sunny seasons. In addition, this coastal city is in the area less affected by the storm. From January to August: It is the dry season Nha Trang City. The weather is cool, dry, airy that is very suitable for any trip in Nha Trang.

From September to December: In the last months of the year, Nha Trang begins to rain and is a little cold. Sometimes, it will affect your travel plans. Therefore, if you travel in the last months of the year, you should be equipped with necessary items such as umbrellas or raincoats.

How to get to Nha Trang?

By air

You can directly fly to Nha Trang from Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh, Danang, Hai Phong or even from China and South Korea. Passengers choosing to travel by plane will fly to Cam Ranh airport. From Cam Ranh airport, you will go to center of Nha Trang city. Since Cam Ranh airport is about 35 km from Nha Trang city, you can choose to take an airport taxi or bus. The advantage of this bus is that it will run about 30 minutes right after each plane landed.

When you get to the door, you will find a bus ticket booth with clear signs. You can buy tickets here and remember to ask the departing time to make sure that you do not have to wait long.

By train

If you would like to enjoy the on-the-way sceneries through windows, traveling to Nha Trang by train is not a bad idea. The Nha Trang train station is in the center of the town, west to the cathedral. It has good connections to destinations including Danang and HCMC which both take about 8h. It is also possible to get there from Hanoi and get the chance to appreciate the marvelous beauty the coast. However, this is a long 27 hours only possible for those with time.

Station A: 120 Le Duan, Hoan Kiem, Hanoi

Or Station B: Tran Quy Cap, Dong Da, Hanoi

By shuttle bus

Another option to get to Nha Trang is by shuttle bus. If you plan to choose this means of transportation, it will take about 8 to 10 hours from Saigon and 30 hours from Hanoi to Nha Trang. There are also daily departures from Da Nang or from Dalat (4hours).

Get around Nha Trang

In Nha Trang, you can get around by taxi, motorbike, bicycle or bus. There are many taxi companies in Nha Trang, from small to big one. It is better to bargain for better prices.

Most small and medium hotels have motorbike and bicycle rental services. You can contact the hotel you are staying at or the nearest hotel to rent one. Daily or hourly rate (negotiable) is from 100,000VND to 170,000VND per day.

Currently, there are also 6 bus lines (01, 02, 03, 04, 05, 06) in Nha Trang city. The price is quite cheap. It’s only from 7,000VND/one-way/ticket/person.
